Tardes De Verano – Nick Hook, Missil + Lao

When I got back to Mexico in late May 2018, Mexican Jihad invited me to plan an ambient drone set at an art gallery. Plants everywhere, all of our friends, a super good vibe.
After the show outside, I bumped into Missil. We started talking – me not in the best Spanish, her not in the best English, but we made it work. Immediate connection.
The sessions were amazing. New wave cumbia dancehall drone is the way I hear it. Madness made by a Latina from Paraguay, a Chicano and a gringo.
Missil really came out of body for us during those sessions and I think we all knew it was the beginning of things. Lao came to NYC and we added some guitars and bass.
I could go on forever, but keep an eye out for an EP we are putting together as we speak.
